DIRECTIONS: Hold the smudge at a 45-degree angle, light the end, and let it flame for about 30 seconds before blowing it out. Smoke should rise freely. If it’s hard to light, simply tease the tightly packed end to allow air to flow through the dried leaves. Rest the smoking smudge in a suitable container like a shell or cauldron. Alternatively, you can break the smudge apart and burn the leaves and stems separately.
